Should you tip your artist?
The short answer is SURE!
Although tips are never required and we certainly think no different of you if you don’t, we really do appreciate a tip when you are able to give one.
At the end of a 2 hour class when your artist starts cleaning up for the night, she expectantly lifts up the tip jar to see what treasure awaits, and depending on what they find, it either boosts their confidence and lets them know how the crowd appreciated the teaching or leaves them wondering if something went wrong.
People tip their waiter, their hairdresser, a tattoo artist, at the car wash, when they get a pedicure or even when they take their dog in for a grooming, and more. Tipping is a very customary thing in our culture. Your paint & sip artist is no different than all the rest of the happily tipped peoples in the service industry. They set your place setting for the class, they teach you step-by-step how to make a work of art to take home and during class they are responding to questions, repeating the steps when needed, assisting people individually, doing paint refills and giving extra supplies, making sure you have a great experience and fun time. When you show a little love in the tip jar, it goes a long way. It’s like a hug without all the touching. Hahaha!
Some people have said that they wanted to give a tip, but don’t carry cash. I hear ya. I don’t carry cash all too often either. We understand and so we’ve made it easy by having a Venmo and/or PayPal account so you can send them a little something via their virtual tip jar! We have included those credentials in the “confirmation” and “thank you” emails that you receive from your booking. The artist will also have her Venmo on or near the tip jar for easy reference at events.
Again, it is not required. A tip should come out of your desire to give a little something extra to show that you had a great time. Of course if you didn’t have a great time, feel free to leave us the other kind of tip which are suggestions on how we can improve your experience. Those tips should be sent to our email address at info@charlestonpaintparty.com.
We hope to see you all at the easel real soon!
xoxo,
For the Love of Art staff
