Frequently asked

Questions

Why don’t I see any “in-studio” events on the calendar?

We are exclusively a mobile studio. We do not have a brick & mortar at this time. We have partnered with several local venues to bring Charleston Paint Party experiences to you in the Lowcountry on a monthly basis for in-person paint & sip events. We are also available for private events by request, where we bring the party to you!

Where is the pick-up location for Pick-up & Paint Kits?

Pick up will be in the West Ashley area of Charleston..
Please call us at: 843-974-4472 for Pick-up & Paint Kit orders and arrange for pick-up.

  • Paint Kits are NON-REFUNDABLE for obvious reasons.

What is your cancellation policy?

For all paint classes we have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy for refunds.
With a
24 hour notice we can ONLY reschedule you to another class or offer you a digital class credit that never expires and can be applied in the checkout screen for a later class of your choosing.
It is imperative that you give us enough notice so that we can plan for our attendance to be as full as possible. Cancellations are very disruptive to our kind of business. You are always welcome to transfer your reservations to someone else, just let us know who will be taking your place.
Please
CALL us at: 843-974-4472 with the required amount of notice and we will get your taken care of.
DO NOT email if it is less than 48 hours as we may not get that in time to process your request. Thank you for your understanding.

All private parties require a 5 day notice to cancel or reschedule. If notice is not made 5 or more days in advance the deposit becomes non-refundable. Thank you for your understanding. Please call us with any changes to your event.

✮ Important notes about minimum attendance:
-If the minimum attendance has not been met for a class we reserve the right to reschedule or cancel the class. We will contact you via the given contact info asap if this does occur. A full refund will be offered in these instances if you do not wish to reschedule or receive a class credit.

Will you have Paint-your-Pet classes?

Yes! We will put these sporadically on our event calendar at some of our event locations. Paint your pet classes are at a different price point and done on a slightly smaller canvas to allow for enough time and a good experience. There is a lot of pre-work that goes into getting your stenciled canvases ready for the event, therefore we also have a 5 day cancellation policy on these classes. They are so fun and a huge hit. (Private Paint-Your-Pet parties are also available by request for adults only.)

Do I need experience to take your classes?

You do not need experience. We choose paintings that should be beginner friendly and we guide you step-by-step through the painting process. On average, about half of our attendees have never painted before! You will be pleasantly surprised.

Are there age restrictions to your classes?

Some of our venues that serve alcohol do have an age limit so please check with the individual establishment. Any children in attendance with adults must be at least 12 years of age to participate. We will be adding DaVinci Kids classes and Mommy & Me classes at select locations geared more for a younger crowd. Please see our event calendar for details. All children must be ages 6+ to participate in our kids classes. No exceptions!

Can I bring my own drinks/snacks?

If you are attending one of our public paint & sip classes at one of our partner venues, then NO, you cannot bring in outside beverages or food (water ok). All of these establishments have beverages and snacks, or a full menu in some cases, for additional purchases to your event registration and you are encouraged to do so. Some may have a minimum beverage or food purchase requirement and as their guests we need to honor their requests. Thank you.

What should I bring to the paint & sip event?

A smile and an open mind! That’s it! We provide all of the supplies for you to follow along to create an acrylic painting that you can take home with you same day! We do provide paint smocks to use, but you may want to wear something you don’t mind getting a little dirty just in case. Oh! and bring friends. It’s so fun to make memories with others at these events.

Should I tip the artist?

Tips are like warm hugs without all the touching! (Ha!) Yes, if you have enjoyed your experience, your artist would love it if you would show your appreciation with a tip. She will have a jar onsite or you can send her a virtual tip via Venmo. Thank you so much!

What supplies do you recommend for virtual classes if I am buying my own?

We recommend these art supplies as a staple in your paint tool kit:

  • Quality acrylic paints in these colors (in order of importance): White, Mars Black, Bright Red, Chrome Yellow, Phthalo Blue and Burnt Umber. In addition you could add: Phthalo Green, Green Oxide, Colbalt Blue, Primary Magenta, Phthalo Red, Deep Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Violet, Ultramarine Blue, Chrome Orange, Turquoise, Gold, Raw Umber, Venetian Red. (We use Dick Blick brand acrylic paints at our studio.)

  • Brushes: Large Flat (1”), Medium Flat (1/2”) and Small Flat (1/4”) + Medium Round, Small Round and Smaller Round Detail brushes (size 6 or smaller). You could also add a filbert and fan brush. We use multiple brands at the studio. Usually a short wooden handle with synthetic bristles. Our favorite brand is Simply Simmons.

  • Canvases. We like the wood framed, pre-gessoed ones from Michaels in a step 1. They are good quality and good price. We use primarily 11x14 and 16x20 but they come in various sizes.

  • You’ll want to have a rinse cup (glass mason jar or other heavy bodied cup), palette or mixing plate, rag for spills or wiping your hands or paper towels, and good lighting.

  • Easel. Either a wood or metal table top easel (our favorite) or an A-frame wood easel is nice too. Michaels has some good quality ones. Dick Blick or Jerry’s Artarama has good black metal tabletop easels as well.

  • We also recommend having some different colored chalk, transfer paper, a pencil, ruler, circle foam pouncer in different sizes, a paint smock to cover your clothes, a cheap hair dryer for speed drying between steps.

  • And finally the Masters Brush Cleaner is really amazing. We recommend you don’t let your brushes dry with paint on them, or let them sit in the water too long. Wash them with a light dish detergent and rinse well and lay flat to dry. This cleaner will restore them well if they become frayed or loaded with paint that makes them stiff. You can pick it up on Amazon.
