More Than Art: Introducing Our New Art Mentorship Program

For me, art has always been about more than creating something beautiful.

It’s about connection. Expression. Confidence. Having a place where you can slow down, be yourself, and discover something you didn’t know was inside of you.

That’s the heart behind the new For the Love of Art Mentorship Program.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching so many people create through our paint parties, classes, camps, and other creative experiences. And one of my favorite things has always been seeing someone go from “I don’t think I can do this” to holding up something they created with a huge smile on their face.

That transformation is part of what inspired me to offer something a little more personal.

Because sometimes, what an artist needs is more than an art class.

Sometimes they need someone who will come alongside them—someone who will encourage them, help them grow, challenge them when they're ready for more, and help them discover what they're capable of.

Art With a Little More Heart

Our Art Mentorship Program offers personalized creative instruction built around the individual artist rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

Instead of simply following along with a group project, artists have the opportunity to explore the mediums, techniques, and creative goals that interest them. Depending on the mentorship selected, sessions might focus on drawing, painting, composition, color theory, skill development, portfolio preparation, or simply becoming more confident in creating.

And while developing artistic skills is certainly part of mentorship, I hope what happens during these sessions reaches beyond what's happening on the canvas.

Our mentors are there to encourage, guide, teach, and create a space where artists can ask questions, make mistakes, experiment, and develop confidence in their own creative voice.

Because creativity isn't about being perfect.

It's about learning, exploring, and giving yourself permission to create.

Mentorship for Every Stage of the Creative Journey

One thing that was important to me when developing this program was making sure there wasn't only one way to participate.

Every artist is different. Some are just beginning. Some have been creating for years and want to strengthen their skills. Some young artists are preparing portfolios for specialized programs. Others may simply want the individualized attention that can be difficult to get in a traditional group class.

That's why we're beginning with several different mentorship options:

Private Art Mentorship for Youth is designed for ages 7–17 and provides one-on-one, customized instruction for budding artists at any skill level. Sessions can include drawing, painting, composition, color theory, and other areas of skill development, with optional light portfolio guidance.

Semi-Private & Small Group Mentorship allows 2–6 young artists to learn together while still receiving individualized guidance. It's a great option for siblings, friends, and homeschool families who want to grow creatively together.

Portfolio Prep Mentorship is designed for ages 12–17 who are preparing for specialized art programs or want to take their work to the next level. Sessions can focus on skill refinement, concept development, portfolio review, and artist statement guidance.

And mentorship isn't just for kids.

You're Never Too Old to Invest in Your Creativity

Maybe you loved to draw when you were younger but life got busy.

Maybe you've always wanted to learn to paint but never knew where to begin.

Maybe you've been creating on your own for years and would simply love personalized instruction to help you grow.

Our Adult 1:1 Art Mentorship is for artists ages 18+ at any skill level. Instruction is customized to the individual and can include drawing, color and composition, watercolor, acrylic or oil painting, and more.

You don't need an art degree.

You don't need years of experience.

And you certainly don't need to already think of yourself as an "artist."

You just need a desire to learn.

No one is too old to start investing in their creativity.

More Than What's on the Canvas

I believe we were created by a creative God, and there is something meaningful about discovering, developing, and using the gifts He has placed within us.

My hope for this program isn't simply to help people become "better at art."

It's to create opportunities for people to discover what they're capable of—to nurture creativity, build confidence, develop real artistic skills, and provide a space where their ideas and individual creative voice matter.

Yes, we'll create art.

But hopefully, we'll create a little courage along the way, too.

Ready to Grow as an Artist?

Whether you're looking for individualized instruction for a budding young artist, portfolio preparation, a creative experience for siblings or friends, or you're an adult who has decided it's finally time to invest in your own creativity, we'd love to help you find the mentorship option that's right for you.

Art Mentorship packages are available now through For the Love of Art.

Come create. Come learn. Come grow.

Because there is always more to discover when you give yourself permission to create.
