Rachel DuBose King is a Charleston-based artist and experienced art instructor with both formal training and international teaching experience. She studied at Winthrop University’s nationally accredited art program and holds a master’s certificate in EthnoArts from Payap University in Thailand.
After years living and working abroad, Rachel spent three years in Chiang Mai running an art program and leading an art team, where she developed curriculum and taught students from a wide range of ages and cultural backgrounds. She has also provided private art tutoring, working one-on-one with students to support their individual goals and growth.
Now based in Charleston, Rachel brings a thoughtful, structured approach to teaching—helping students build strong technical foundations while also encouraging creativity and confidence.

For the Love of Art is a mobile studio, so we come to you! We’ll come to your home. We could possibly meet at a park, studio or other agreed upon space of your choice also, just ask us!

We will work with you to schedule your sessions. Typically we do them weekly, but we can be flexible with your schedule.
We have afternoon, evening or weekend sessions available at this time and they are first come first serve.
If you need to reschedule a session, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance if possible, by calling us at 843-974-4472 (text ok).
If we have to reschedule, we will try to do so within 48+ hours as well, unless it’s an emergency.
Rachel will also give you her contact information as well for your convenience.

We are based in the West Ashley area of Charleston. We will commute to the surrounding areas. I.e. North Charleston, Daniel Island, Summerville, Johns and James Islands, Mt. Pleasant. Typically within a 15 mile radius. We’ll confirm your address just to make sure.

We understand that this may not be a great fit for everyone and that’s ok. If after your first session you do not wish to continue, we will refund the remaining amount of your money equivalent to the remaining sessions
Cancellations must be done within 48 hours of the completion of the first session beyond that there are no refunds.

The art mentorship packages do not include art supplies. During your free initial consult, we will review your current supplies and then give you a list of recommended supplies to either purchase on your own or we can provide the supplies for you. A price sheet will be available during the consultation for ordering through FTLOA for your convenience. All purchased supplies are NON-REFUNDABLE.

After your initial consult we will collect your payment information for the session package and any supplies your purchase through us.
Full payment is due before the first scheduled session.
In the event that you should want to cancel…any cancellations must be done within 48 hours of the first completed session to receive a refund for the remaining sessions.
Cash, Check, Cards or Venmo are acceptable forms of payment.
If you purchase additional sessions, those will be charged per session prior to class.

Yes. At this time we have private, semi-private, small group and portfolio prep art lessons for ages 7-17 plus adult mentorship opportunities for 18+.
